This special event will be held at North Springs High School on Saturday, June 16, 2024, from 5 pm to 9 pm. We are celebrating Black fatherhood through the lenses of culture and community.
Juneteenth, also known as Freedom Day, is a time to reflect on the resilience and strength of the African American community throughout history. It is an opportunity to remember and honor the struggles faced during the era of slavery and to celebrate the freedom that was hard-fought and won.
In the spirit of unity and progress, we'd like to share an inspiring quote by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.: "If the cruelties of slavery could not stop us, the opposition we now face will surely fail. Because the goal of America is freedom, abused and scorned tho’ we may be, our destiny is tied up with America’s destiny." These words remind us that pursuing freedom and justice is an integral part of America's history and destiny.
The event at North Springs High School will feature various activities, including live music, dance performances, cultural exhibitions, and insightful discussions. It will be a time for the community to come together, learn, and appreciate the significance of Juneteenth in our nation's history.
Please mark your calendars and join us for a meaningful and uplifting celebration of Juneteenth at North Springs High School on June 16, 2024, from 5 pm to 9 pm. Together, we can honor the past, embrace the present, and look forward to a future of unity and equality.
Thank you to our partners: District 7 Fulton County School Board member Dr. Michelle Morancie, Link Program at Fulton County Schools, Georgia NAACP, Atlanta NAACP, North Fulton NAACP, and the Atlanta-North Georgia Labor Council.
